2013 Gala raises over $35,000 for local charities

Nov 16, 2013 A yearlong fundraising effort by the Monmouth & Ocean County Chapter of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin will be celebrated this weekend at their Annual Gala. Together, this non-profit group has raised more than $35,000 this year for local non-profits such as Restore the Shore, the Food Banks of Monmouth & Ocean County, and the upcoming Indian Cultural & Community Centre in Toms River.

The 4th Gala will take place on November 16 at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, NJ. Over 300 people are expected to be in attendance, a large portion being area physicians.

MOCAAPI has a long history of contributions to the community. Their website states that: It is our mission to serve as a platform for our member physicians and their families to carry out their needs to serve the humanity. To organize, support and contribute to charitable causes. Throughout the year they host a number of fundraising events including golf outings, health fairs, and other community meetings.

Dr Dharam Mann, current president of MOCAAPI, said: “Having my medical practice here in Ocean County and being a resident of Monmouth County myself, I have a strong connection to the area, and feel the need to do my part to help.”

Dr Mann, Dr Sancheti, Dr Anil Gupta and the Gala committee are excited to celebrate this occasion. “Recognizing the individuals who have contributed to these fundraising efforts is vital to ensure ongoing support and awareness for the cause.”
